Multi Supplier Framework for the Provision of Network Works and Services for Irish Water – Northeast Region

Working as a sub-contractor to Farrans Construction, Conwell Contracts have carried out work on various Uisce Eirann / Irish Water projects.

The Devin Reilly, St McCartan’s, and Dr McKenna Terrace Monaghan scheme involved the decommissioning of an existing 100mm Asbestos Cement/uPVC back yard service water main of approx. 1200m in length. The laying of approx. 931m of 125mm outside diameter PE100 replacement water main, connections to existing mains and transfer of approx. 126 no. private services onto the proposed main.

Private side/lead services were replaced to the point of entry of the property laid through narrow rear yard entries with limited access.

Additional works included connection to existing mechanical meters. Retro fitting new lids to IW updated Standards. Serial numbers and meter reads recorded and supplied to IW using GepPal; Replacement meters requested for installation in new Boundary Boxes.
Installation of tapping saddles, public side services, boundary boxes and transfer of private customer service connections. Decommissioning of lead/copper services & old stop cocks. Internal plumbing carried out when the existing service is located under extensions/buildings.

Completion of Testing & Commissioning of mains including branch connections and decommissioning of existing mains.

The Tullaghan to Redbrae Mains Replacement scheme involved the rehabilitation of approximately 2714m of existing 100/75/50mm uPVC water main and all the associated assets together with service transfers as required. The existing main was replaced with a 125mm outside diameter PE main. In addition, an approximate 887m of existing 50mm HDPE water main laid in private land was decommissioned and a replacement 90mm outside diameter PE main of approximately 883m laid in the nearby carriageway.
Implementation of effective traffic management measures to minimise disruptions and to ensure the safety of road users. The use of appropriate signage barriers and traffic control measures.

Completion of all civils works including chambers, Kiosks, ducting, and plinths for 1Nr mechanical meter, 1Nr battery powered mag meter, and 1nr PRV with bypass. Battery powered Magnetic meter installed to read dual flow readings.

Installation of private side services to domestic properties and animal drinkers that have been transferred from the decommissioned 50mm mains in private property. New boundary boxes located on the public verge with meters installed to non-Domestic supply.
